Feb 02, 2012· The last spot I did was to park my boat. I ran over the area in a pattern a bunch of times with the 5,000 lb Tahoe. (As wet as it is now, you will have to wait a while). Then used a layer of 3/4" crusher run stone (Which is the stone with all the grinds in it) for a base. Compress that layer in as well. Then top it off with 1/2 to 3/8 crusher run.

Properly compacted, this stone creates a hard, concretelike surface that is extremely stable and will shed excess water while also allowing some percolation into the soil.
Aggregate should be crushed, angular, 1" minus in size (diameter) with about 10% dust (or fines). Limestone is a good option, but other stone will work fine. Some names for this type of stone are "dense grade aggregate (DGA)" or "crusher run." Driveway Fabric eliminates the need to utilize stone larger than 1" in size. Avoid using rounded stone.
